Several images from my series of work entitled 'TV is Enough' were selected for this exhibition in Weston-Super-Mare.

TV is Enough

For this body of work I wanted to explore the effect that television has on different people, looking into the way that people use television to escape from everyday life. I created the final images using digital manipulation as I wanted to demonstrate a blur between reality and fiction. I believe that the domination of television media in western society has taken focus away from other outlets such as literature and the arts. This generation has grown up with a blinkered view of the world today as they struggle to form their own opinions when bombarded with television twenty-four hours a day.

The Last Panorama

The Last Panorama

‘The Last Panorama’ focuses on locations where people have taken their own lives. I exhibited these images as large panoramic’s to encourage the viewer to immerse themselves in the scene, allowing the opportunity to imagine the perspective of a person considering suicide and to get a feel of the landscape in front of them. However, I didn't want to show the landscapes to be bleak lonely places, instead I have tried to present them as they can be seen by any passerby. Viewing the images without prior knowledge of the sinister connotations the locations have allows us to question how an individual makes the decision to step off the edge whilst surrounded by so much natural beauty.

Through the images in this book I wanted to draw attention to both the details in the foreground whilst allowing the landscape to be appreciated in its entirety. The areas in the front of the picture hint at the wider significance of the locations but should not prevent the viewer from appreciating the individual allure of the landscape.

This journey allowed me the opportunity to see landscape photography from another perspective. Visiting these localities as an artist let me embrace their appeal in terms of nature or architecture, but imagining them through the eyes of a depressed individual seeking to commit suicide meant they took on a whole new meaning. This challenged my traditional way of connecting with a photograph and allowed me to see beyond the initial perspective and accept the individual significance locations can have depending on the mindset of the visitor who accesses them.

For the exhibition of 'The last panoramic' I created a book which would help the viewer explore the locations that they were looking at in greater depth. As the project focused on the big panoramic images I wanted to be able to show the smaller details as well.

Well iv been really busy over the past couple of weeks, but its all been rewarding and the end is finally in sight. Went to check my prints yesterday before they get mounted, i must say they look pretty amazing. This is the first time that i have printed anything this size (45in x 20in). I'm looking forwards to picking them up on Monday. They are for the series 'The last Panoramic' and in total there will be 6 large format prints.
As well as finishing off this series i have been working on redesigning my website, so that will hopefully be on line soon.

I recently did a shoot for 'we cut in peace'. Consisting of Bav D and J East 'wcip' are a couple of producers working out of London, providing a huge range of different sounds. Today i was lucky enough to get invited up onto the roof of Kings College Chapel Cambridge, it was a fantastic experience and the weather, for a change, was very good. We started off with a quick tour of the chapel itself and then we were taken through a small well locked door up onto the roof which provided incredible views of Cambridge and the surrounding area. After walking around the roof for a while and filling up several memory cards! we were invited for tea in one of the lecturers tea room. A perfect end to the afternoon!

I shoot mainly on digital and have currently upgraded from my Nikon d200 to a shiny new Nikon D700. I had my D200 for over two years and it served me well, it journeyed across the world with me as well as many places more local. It survived drops, spills and beaches, as well as taking pictures along the way. Eventually I decided to upgrade to the D700, this was mainly because of its performance at high ISO, It certainly hasn't disappointed! whereas on the d200 where i wouldn't push the ISO over 600 i can comfortably shoot over 2000 on the D700. Another reason that i wanted to upgrade was for the full frame sensor, this has certainly been a huge step up with instantly recognizable results.
I like using a 50mm lens where possible as i find that this suits my style, gives crisp clear results and it also makes the camera easier and quicker to use. I find that it is also slightly more discrete and this can sometimes be a good thing.
I am a huge fan of post production and can quite easily spend hours on Photoshop creating the image that i want, i will try and upload some of my favorite techniques, tips and tricks!

Hi! Welcome to my blog, my name is Adam. I'm currently in my final year at Cambridge school of art working towards a BA in photography. I started out at Cambridge doing a 2 year FDA in professional photography, after completing this course I decided that i wanted to continue studying for a BA.
I currently live near Cambridge and am just a short train ride from both Cambridge and London which puts me in a good position for any work that comes up.
I aim to use this blog as somewhere to write and show any new work that I am doing, as well as going over old techniques. I hope to be able to keep this up as I think that it will be helpful to myself as well as,hopefully, being informative to others!
